The Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Lazaro Nyalandu (MP) has officially inaugurated the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) website, http://www.tbs.go.tz redes,igned with new features to cater for a global, information technology era clientele.
The Honorable Deputy Minister made the launch at TBS headquarters, Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, during the commemoration of the World Quality Day on November 9, 2011.
Speaking during the launching event, Hon. Nyalandu urged TBS to ensure that the website is regularly updated to suit the purpose of a gateway to the public. He also urged TBS to use the website effectively to simplify and enhance standardization and quality assurance services, while at the same time enhancing customer service.
The concept of redesigning TBS website emanated from the need to implement various ICT strategies, including digital promotion of TBS, online publishing, online cataloguing, access of online materials from other national standards bodies, online clients directory and online price lists of standards. Also, the website aims to enhance information sharing, i.e. supporting TBS business by improving efficiency, productivity, information flow and information access.
The new website comprises of new features, including the search facility for standards and certified manufacturers and products; facilities for online application for standards mark licences, tested products certificates and batch certificates; the East African Standards catalogue and the frequently asked questions (and answers) about TBS, standardization and quality assurance.
