6. Technical Assistance in Measurement

The Bureau provides awareness on metrology matters to industries, laboratories, institutions, regulators and other stakeholders to disseminate metrology related information.

7. Provision of Reference Materials

A reference material (RM) is a material that is sufficiently homogeneous and stable with respect to one or more specified properties, which has been established to be fit for its intended use in a measurement process.

RMs act as trusted benchmark that allow quality control laboratories, regulators, researchers and industries to demonstrate that their measurements are reliable, accurate, comparable and traceable.

In order to realize production of RMs, the Bureau is embarking to develop infrastructure for producing reference materials to support sectors such as food, environment and health. Production of reference materials in the country aims to enhance availability of RMs and minimize the cost of importing them from abroad.

8. National Reference Time Service

TBS as the custodian of national measurement standards for time is focusing to offer the National Reference Time service.

The importance of this service is to ensure precise synchronization, accuracy, resiliency and security of time-sensitive equipment used in the national critical infrastructures. National critical infrastructure, includes; telecommunications, financial networks, power grids, transportation system, security system, defence system and emergency services.
