Metrology laboratories were established in 1982 to ensure traceability in measurements, provide technical assistance, and deliver calibration services across various sectors of the economy. These services support a wide range of industries, including health, manufacturing, construction, tourism, transportation, aviation, testing, regulatory bodies, and research institutions.
The Metrology Section comprises six specialized laboratories: the Thermometry Laboratory, Electrical and Time & Frequency Laboratory, Mass and Volume Laboratory, Mechanical Metrology Laboratory, Length Laboratory, and Chemical & Biology Metrology Laboratory.
