Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has unveiled the fifth phase of the National Quality Awards to recognise Prodocers, Businesspeople, Institutions and individuals who have significantly contributed to using innovative technology and improving quality infrastructure.

The Director General of TBS, Dr Ashura Katunzi said over the weekend that also the awards will recognise institutions that have excelled in quality issues during the execution of their product production or service delivery activities.

“The objective of the awards is to promote innovation and improvement of products and services offered in the country through established procedures under quality infrastructure,” she said.

Dr. Katunzi mentioned that the fifth phase of the Quality Awards for 2024 has been organised into five categories, including the award for the best company of the year.

The second award is for the best product of the year, the third award is for the best service of the year, the fourth award is for the best exporter of products outside the country.

She added that the fifth category is for an individual who has excelled in quality matters.

On his part, the Regional Executive of Coast Region from the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Amilwise Mkayula, said they will advise their members and affiliates to participate in large numbers because these awards benefit the development of their businesses and markets.

“Even those who participated last year can participate again in another phase. We emphasize participating in these awards as it will bring enthusiasm and great competition,” he said.
