In an effort to sensitise more on the use of quality products, Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has challenged engineers to stand firm on using materials that have met the required standard.

This was revealed yesterday by the TBS Marketing Manager, Rhoda Mayugu during the engineering exhibitions.

She said engineers are the catylist when it comes to the uses of materials thus, if they continue to make priorities in the use quality products will help in reducing low quality products in the country.

"I call upon the engineers to keep prioritising products that have met the required quality standard in you day to day activities," said Ms Mayugu.

She added that engineers as one of the development stakeholders are also required to participate in numerous TBS activities including standard prepardiness to be able to understand more.

Clarifying about the ongoing promotion of free product certification Ms Mayugu told the SMEs attended the exhibition that the programme is still on and they are highly encouraged.

"As it was communicated earlier, product certification processes are still conducted with no charges from the SMEs..just come with the acknowledge letter that you attended the training given by SIDO and the rest will be assured," she said.

She later called upon the public to cooperate with the TBS in demolishing the use of low quality products by simply opting for high quality materials whenever they are to make purchase.
